It Takes All Kinds Of People to Make This A Beautiful World

diversityMost of you know that I enjoy couponing. I really enjoy giving to others. But for the past year what I have learned about me is that I HATE hypocrites!

I get all kinds of thoughts coming across my Facebook feed. Most of it is well wishing something personal, some of it deals with cruelty to animals, but the bulk of it deals with racism in America. Let me return to the subject of me couponing.

When I started my money-saving journey I never knew the doors of understanding that would open because of a paradigm change. In the last year I’ve lost friends for various reasons and most of those friends claim to be extremely religious or extremely knowledgeable about sex, race, religion, politics, and all other things that goes along with living life. And as I began to coupon I found myself in a spiritual place I didn’t even know exist and was able to read the hearts of those that claimed to love me.

I found myself caring less of what the world thinks of me as a black person. I found myself caring less of how people viewed my beloved car that is missing a quarter of its front bumper, a broken pulled down latched that was done by a Walmart worker. I found that my opinion mattered despite the rejections of others. I found I could validate another person’s opinion even though I didn’t agree with their belief.  I found myself feeling more put off by folks forcing themselves in my life in one form or another. I found myself being inspired by the single good-looking younger than me caring about morals successful business owner man down the street. I found myself reflecting upon my marital vows and how I treat the guy that goes to work everyday and misses sleep because he must get his load to the buyer on time.  I began to really put thought to how he gives me his paycheck each week (should he make a check) and questioned if I could do the same. I found myself wondering how I was going to pay back all the student loans my youngest took out in his name to attend college. And for you folks that feel my youngest should pay his student loans, close your pie holes! Please!

As my son’s parent it’s my job to see that he gets the best start in life. And! Since I made such a mess of my life by making poor decisions when I was young and netted nothing financially to aid my children when it came to helping them enter into the world as successful adults, then my son’s student loan repayments became mines because his entry into adulthood debt free is my job as his parent.

But the thing I’ve learned from couponing is that it takes all kinds of people to make this a beautiful world.

Prayers of Black Women: Amazing Grace by John Newton

John Newton

John Newton is the author of this spiritually enlightenment hymn.  At the age of eleven he became a seaman and later was imprisoned.  After escaping from those that held him captive he found work on a slave-trading ship.  It was then God began to work on his conscience about the cruelties of slavery.  And it was then when he wrote this beautiful hymn as a testament to his transformation from being a slave-ship captain to becoming a Christian.

Most often God takes our wrong to right the wrong of man’s inhumanity to man.  We’re His wonderful creation with the flaw of cruelty attached to our characters.  It is only by God’s amazing grace that saves us from always extending the hand of destruction to our brothers and sisters.

– Prayer –

I pray this day for God’s peace in your life.  I ask God to give you His grace.  For the Bible says, His grace is enough for you and His power is perfect in your weakness as His grace is new every morning.  Have a wonderful day!

Amazing Grace

Amazing grace, how sweet the sound,
That saved a wretch like me!
I once was lost, but now am found,
Was blind, but now I see.

‘Twas grace that taught my heart to fear,
And grace my fears relieved;
How precious did that grace appear
The hour I first believed!

Through many dangers, toils, and snares,
I have already come;
‘Tis grace has brought me safe thus far,
And grace will lead me home.

The Lord has promised good to me,
His word my hope secures;
He will my shield and portion be
As long as life endures.

When we’ve been there ten thousand years,
Bright shining as the sun,
We’ve no less dys to sing God’s praise
Than when we’d first begun.

If You’re Happy Being an Atheist Guess What?

cross1I have this really cool friend on Facebook.  I have never seen her and of course she has never met me in person either but we are friends.  I cherish and respect her opinions about life and she gives me the same courtesy.  She’s an Atheist and I’m a Christian.  And we have never had disagreements about my choice to worship Christ or her choice not to believe in a deity.

Yet, the rights to worship or not worship seems to make most people go crazy on both sides of the fence.  I can’t help but wonder why?

And here is where I’m going to make a few people upset about the subject:

It’s not my job to police the world and set lives on the path of God.  And more so, it is wrong to push religion, faith and God on others.  People were given free will at birth.  Meaning we have the rights to follow God or deny His deity.

I’m a Christian and hardcore evangelism really upsets me!  I hate when Christian’s come to my front door and give me their “you’re going to hell for this reason spill.”  Honestly, I quickly shut the door in their faces.

No one wants to hear they’re doom to an eternal life of fiery damnation.  No one wants to hear they are worthless and unworthy!  Christ died for us all because we were worth the sacrifice!  And as I see things, had an Atheist been the only person on earth God would have sent Jesus to die for him/her too!

Now there will be those that will gasp at my statement “If you’re happy being an Atheist I’m happy for you!”

Only baby Christians or far left/right-wing Christians feel the need to invoke fear and force feed religion.  Spiritual force feeding is not showing a person to Christ and or God.

God clearly say’s in Jeremiah 31:3, “Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love; with loving kindness have I drawn thee.”  Hum. . . ‘with love and kindness’ has He made Himself known to those that choose to follow Him.  No where in that passage does it say club people over the head with the word of God and drag them to the altar to repent!

Truly, the God I worship is a loving God.  He is slow to anger and quick to forgive.  And he certainly doesn’t want His children to bully people with His word!  Therefore, when I meet people who don’t believe in Christ I respect their choice, because I want them to respect mine!  So if you are an Atheist and you think I’m going to try to convert you to my faith you are sadly mistaken.  And, again, “if you’re happy being an Atheist I’m happy for you!”  And!  Yes!  I’m a Christian!

The Prayer’s of Black Women: The Story of Jonah by Mary Margaret

I have been in church for nearly 53 years.   And I have never heard the story of Jonah with so much feeling.  Mary Margaret is full of passion for telling this great story.  Her passion causes her to be very (and I do mean very) animated.  Enjoy this cute little girl telling the story of Jonah.

The Prayers of Black Women: Prayer For Those That Talk Too Much

The Man With Leprosy
(Luke 5:12-14)

Artist: Henry Lee Battle

Artist: Henry Lee Battle

¹²While Jesus was in one of the town, a man came along who was covered with leprosy.  When he saw Jesus, he fell with his face to the ground and begged him, “Lord, if you are willing, you can make me clean.”  ¹³Jesus reached out his hand and touched the man.  “I am willing.” he said.  “Be Clean!”  And immediately the leprosy left him.  14Then Jesus ordered him, “Don’t tell anyone, but go, show yourself to the priest and offer the sacrifices that Moses commanded for your cleansing, as a testimony to them.

Lord, some people talk too much because they want other’s to hear their “know it all” speeches;  then again some people talk too much because of nerves chatter; and, then, Lord, some people talk too much because of self-absorption.  But this prayer is for those that talk to much because of emotional and mental pain that overflows into their daily conversations.

Lord, help the person that is in emotional or mental pain to see that you enter into their lives everyday.  Lord help them to understand you know their spirits are filled with worries.  Let them know Lord they are no different from the man with leprosy when it comes to your unyielding love for your creation.  Lord, allow them to feel your presence; and gently convey to their spirits that you stand waiting to heal their brokenness.  Lord, give them the words to ask in prayer for guidance and healing as they create a dialogue between you and them.

I am asking for you to do these things Lord because:  I have found those that unwittingly share life experiences have been greatly wounded.  And because of their sorrows I come humbly before your Throne of Grace.  So, once again, Lord, I am asking for divine healing for those that talk too much as they try to ease their emotional and mental pains.  Lord, I ask that they find a true friend in you.  Lord, I pray that you begin to peel the layers of untold anguish from their unconscious minds.  Exposing their raw emotions for what they are as you help them to deal with each heartache privately.  For in lessening their spiritual suffering they can find hope.  And in finding hope they will find wisdom in who to share your blessings among and their tribulations with.

Prayers of Black Women: Great is Thy Faithfulness

Lord there are so many social issues to pray for that I’m not sure which one I should bring to your feet this morning.  There is the issue of HIV among the porn stars.  There is the issue of homosexual’s committing suicide because of personal fears.  There are the social issues of gun control in America. Lord as you can see from my small prayer list, that could easily grow, there is a need for you.

Lord as you know I started this prayer last week after coming home from church.  Pastor Robert Gelinas spoke on Your mercy.  He mainly spoke from the book of Jonas.  He talked about how people want your mercy but often hate when you extend the same mercy to those deem unworthy.  With great surprise the end of his sermon took a tailspin.  He held up a rock and said it represented people who had not forgiven themselves.

Lord as you saw I sat listening in bewilderment.  It was then I realized I was Jonas.  I had not forgiven myself for becoming a teen-mom.  I had not forgiven myself for countless other things I had done with the life you gladly gave me.  Lord so long ago, I realized I had wasted and was wasting my life.  I’m sorry!  Please forgive me for wasting the life you created before you formed it in the belly of my precious mom’s womb.  Please stop me from living a life of regret.  Please help me to live in the footsteps you ordered for me.  Please help me to be a gift given back to the greatest gift giver.  Lord, let me be a wonderful gift for you!

Lord this morning someone woke up unsure about life.  Lord, I pray that you give this person a dream or a new dream with new hope.  Lord, I pray that you help them to learn to put one foot in front of the other.  Lord, I pray that you help them to understand “a journey of a thousand miles begins with one step.” Lord, I pray that they realize the cliché I just used apply to all aspects of life.  But more so Lord, I pray they understand “Great is Thy faithfulness.”

Lord help those that have contracted HIV.  Give them your peace that surpasses all human understanding.  Lord help those that have confesses in their hearts that they are homosexual.  Lord help those that own guns and those that don’t own guns to come to mutual agreements.  But most of all Lord help the world to know ‘Great is Thy faithfulness.”

  • “Great is Thy faithfulness,” O God my Father,
    There is no shadow of turning with Thee;
Thou changest not, Thy compassions, they fail not
As Thou hast been Thou forever wilt be.
  • “Great is Thy faithfulness!” “Great is Thy faithfulness!“
    Morning by morning new mercies I see;
All I have needed Thy hand hath provided—
“Great is Thy faithfulness,” Lord, unto me!
  • Summer and winter, and springtime and harvest,
Sun, moon and stars in their courses above,
Join with all nature in manifold witness
To Thy great faithfulness, mercy and love.
  • Pardon for sin and a peace that endureth,
    Thine own dear presence to cheer and to guide;
Strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow,
Blessings all mine, with ten thousand beside!

The Prayers of Black Women: A Kiss from Heaven

4213264-261659-vector-illustration-of-a-breast-cancer-pink-ribbon-treeYesterday a friend posted on Facebook she had to cut her long beautiful hair.  Apparently this has been a year that has tried her soul.  Medically she has opted for chemo and feels she is hanging onto life as she knows it.

Within her personal message she wrote she didn’t want us to feel sorry for her; but it is hard to be joyful when your friend is fighting to live.  It is even harder to be joyful when the illnesses of others make you question your own mortality.  So today I wrote a prayer for her and it is called “A Kiss from Heaven.”

A Kiss from Heaven

A kiss from Heaven is what I prayed for you.
I wanted you to know that God will see you through.
He knew you would lose your hair,
But a kiss from Heaven will show His care.

A kiss from Heaven is what I prayed for you.
I asked for God to kiss you at half-passed two.
God said He has already kissed you
And I know His kiss will heal you too.

A kiss from Heaven is what I ask for God to do,
So you will see His love shining through.
I asked that He give your skin a glow
So you will know He still runs the show.

A kiss from Heaven is what I prayed for you.
When I felt you might become a tad thin too.
I want God to let you know you are going to win,
Because He gives you courage from within.

A kiss from Heaven is what I prayed for you.
So when you feel down with sorrow
I want God to let you know He holds your tomorrows.
A kiss from Heaven is what I’m praying for you.

The Prayers of Black Women: I Just Want To Thank You Lord

Lord thank you for all you’ve done for me!  Yes!  You have kept me and your mercies have been new every morning.

Lord, this morning I’m praying for those that are lonely in spirit, for those that are losing hope, for those that have lost hope, for those that are hungry not only for natural food but spiritual food as well.  I’m praying for those that have been evicted, for those that have lost their homes to foreclosure or short-sale.  I’m praying for those that have lost their jobs or means of financial support.  I’m praying for those that have lost their transportation.  Lord, I’m praying for those that have been victimized by the greed of other’s.  I’m praying for young men and women that feel they are not loved.  I’m praying Lord that you will show the young [and old] your unconditional love.  I’m praying for those that are alcoholics this morning.  I’m praying for the families that have drugged addicted grand-parents, parents, children, and family members.  I’m praying for those that are hooked on drugs.  I’m praying for parents that have lost their children to death.  I’m praying for the grieving husbands and wives that have also lost their spouses to death.  I’m praying for those that are grieving the loss of someone.  I’m praying for those that have been newly divorced and feel void of emotions and can’t see their way clear.  Lord, I’m praying for the seen and unseen needs of those you deeply love.  Lord, I’m asking that you bring comfort to your people.

I will repay you for the years the locusts have eaten– the great locust and the young locust, the other locusts and the locust swarm — my great army that I sent among you.  ~Joel 2.25

Become My Friend God

Become my friend God that I will hope for today and have a promise for tomorrow.
Become my friend God that I will have a shoulder to lean on in my times of sorrow.
Become my friend God that I will have a life supply of happiness to always borrow.

Become my friend God so my days and nights are never lonely.
Become my friend God so I will learn to serve you only.
Become my friend God so I will never be a Christian phony.

Become my friend God so in my daily walk with you I can see life as you do.
Become my friend God so I can learn how to make a healthy pot of spiritual stew.
Become my friend God so I will learn to feed your people like you too!

Become my friend God is all I am asking of you.

Your Loving Daughter,
Annette

Vocabulary Mondays – hope

Word:  hope

Part of Speech:  noun

Meaning:  the feeling that what is wanted can be had or that events will turn out for the best

Word Usage:  To give up hope is to quit living.

In light of Lee Thompson Young’s death by suicide I have come to the conclusion people are loosing hope.  Hope gives the essence of our being a jump-start when everything seems bleak.  Hope lets us know we are not ready to check out of life.  Hope is the substance every soul craves during good and bad times.  Hope.  You can’t live without it!

So for those of you that are human, and sometimes find yourselves struggling with life’s trials and tribulations, I am sharing a few of my favorite Bible scriptures that gives me hope during the storms of life.

For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. – Jeremiah 29:11

But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew [their] strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; [and] they shall walk, and not faint. – Isaiah 40:31

Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things [are] honest, whatsoever things [are] just, whatsoever things [are] pure, whatsoever things [are] lovely, whatsoever things [are] of good report; if [there be] any virtue, and if [there be] any praise, think on these things. – Philippians 4:8
